Welcome to Wisdom Within

I’m so glad you’re here! Really glad. Wisdom Within is my labour of love, where you’ll find my writings on anything and everything to do with living mindfully, meaningful, and well. I write about the joys and perils of human nature, our shared connection in the human experience, and the wisdom to be gained by paying better attention in our lives.

Why Subscribe?

Wisdom Within is a newsletter publication and community for collecting and connecting wisdom in mind, body, heart & soul. As a subscriber, you’ll receive guidance and powerful reminders and practices on matters of emotional health and well-being that are intended to support you in finding greater space of mind (to make room for joy!) and other goodies throughout, like a well-timed poem or quote as nourishment for your heart and soul.

More specifically, you’ll learn about skillfulness in self-regulation, harnessing the wisdom of our emotions, and deepening relationship with self and others. Other themes in my writing include feeling connected in the human experience rather than alone, the power of paying attention, and cultivating a life of meaning. My writing blends psychoeducation and personal narrative, and my posts are deeply researched and informed by my training and niche as a therapist in emotion-focused therapy and trauma, and by my own lived experiences. You can also learn more about what to expect from Wisdom Within by reading about what it is and isn’t in my Welcome Letter.

For the time being, Wisdom Within is an entirely free subscription for readers, and one that’s free of ads and affiliate links. My mission is to provide a place for pause and reconnection with oneself, and avenues to greater ease of mind and back to our capacity for joy. If I’ve reached this aim with just one person for just one moment, it’s all worth it. If you believe in this aim for yourself and others, and want to pledge your support of it, please consider a small donation to keep this labour of love alive. Your patronage helps to sustain this publication and the costs, time, study, and efforts that take place behind the scenes to bring my strings of words to life.

Thank you from my heart to yours for being here. Showing up here with an open curiosity is your greatest and most cherished support of all.

About Me

As a therapist in private practice, I have worked directly with clients for thousands of hours while engaging in ongoing professional development and training in areas such as attachment-oriented therapy, emotion-focused therapy, trauma-informed practice, polyvagal-guided practice (nervous system regulation), couples counselling, and more. I completed my Master of Education in Counselling at Acadia University and I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and a Master of Science in Community Health and Epidemiology from Dalhousie University. Beyond my education and training as a therapist, my engagement with the world as an athlete in sport (my first true discipline!) and as a yoga and mindfulness student and teacher also shape and inform my work and writing.

I share a home with my loving partner and our rescue dog, George (our former beloved rescue, Piper still lives on largely in our hearts) in rural Nova Scotia surrounded by nature. I’m happiest at home, walking along our beautiful beaches, and at my desk, all of where I do my best collecting and connecting of wisdom in mind, body, heart & soul.
